Cathay Bank Foundation Announces 2022 Scholarship Recipients

In 2022, the Cathay Bank Foundation held its annual Scholarship Program for the fourth consecutive year to award outstanding high school seniors.

The Cathay Bank Foundation received 314 scholarship applications this year from California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington. Cathay Bank engaged a national committee of 100 employees who volunteered to review and score the application essays. Volunteers were impressed by the students' excellent leadership skills and commitment to community service.

In the end, 20 outstanding students were selected as scholarship recipients. Each receives a $1,000 scholarship for tuition costs for attending a college or university as a full-time student this fall.

“Cathay Bank Foundation is happy to assist these outstanding young adults and see them achieve their dream of furthering their education,” said William E. Becker, Senior Vice President, Director of Community Development of Cathay Bank. “We received applications from many talented young people who already exhibit great leadership skills with an appreciation for community service. We are excited to see what the future holds for them.”

The Cathay Bank Foundation is committed to supporting youth residing in Cathay Bank’s business service territories to fulfill their dreams of obtaining a higher education. Congratulations to all 20 recipients!
